SHIL, an NHS innovation hub covering the interests of NHS staff across the Scotland approached ELEMENT ZERO_SIX to run a joint venture to capture the needs and issues which exist for NHS clinicians and develop the regional portfolio of product opportunities.
We brought research strategy along with commercialisation acumen to assist in identification of potential product opportunities which offer real clinical benefit and commercial reward. Through systematic investigation with over 50 clinicians from 30 different departments and specialities we identified a bank of current product centric problems facing staff.
These were then investigated to evaluate commercial opportunity and clinical benefit, through extensive clinical interviews, parallel product studies, intellectual property reviews and return on investment analysis.
The result was a clear and systematic catalogue, assessment and prioritisation of over 200 product opportunities which exist within the NHS. A user focused database was designed to allow straightforward access and review of the information.
From this research a string of projects, run as joint ventures have taken place, and are underway to deliver world class products offering real clinical benefit, and feeding the NHS innovation hubs and ELEMENT ZERO_SIX product pipelines.
