Medical

The development of medical devices offers an interesting conundrum. Rightfully the process is heavily regulated at all stages to ensure that the products meet standards in functionality and quality. This presents the question of how companies can operate within these constraints and still develop innovative, engaging products.

ELEMENT ZERO_SIX works within a flexible development process. We operate between stage-gated phases ensuring that all the requirements of certification are met whilst giving the designers maximum possible freedom. Using our extensive links in the NHS, feedback on the development is an integral part of the process from the preliminary specification work to pre-market user trials.

Medical device purchasing protocol is commercially far more complex than the consumer sector where the user is most likely to hold the purchasing power. It is important to have a solid understanding of the motivation of the NHS both from a purchasing and clinical perspective. We have extensive experience in this area through our own internal developments and consideration of these factors is an integral part of our design process.
