ZERO_SIX began as the design element of Lightweight Medical Ltd (LWM), incorporated in 2003 with an original business plan to licence healthcare IP in the form of Patents to healthcare equipment manufacturers for a royalty of product sales. LWM was founded on the development of a lighter weight and more usable neonatal transport incubator for the UK market. This product, the multi award winning neo-capsul®, now spearheads the neo® range we developed and liscenced to ParAid Medical systems, and was the start of multiple internal medical device developments and collaborations - ongoing today. LWM now has a number of business interests and continues to build value for its shareholders through an entrepreneurial management team.
We began offering consultancy when contacts in the medical sector asked us to apply the same groundbreaking commercial design thinking to their products. 5 years on, we have developed everything from wound dressings to heart monitors; timber windows to furniture; packaging to energy management systems. Building, training and growing what is the leading strategy and sustainable design team in the country.
We are recognised as thought leaders in the fields of: Problem led Research & Development; Sustainable Design; Technology; Energy efficiency; Medical device development and business, we are fortunate enough to sit on the highest industry boards influencing government strategy & white papers. However, talk is cheap, and we’ve always preferred just to lead by example, influencing change through our actions.
The ELEMENT ZERO_SIX design team's motivation is now increasingly focused on population level behaviour change through useful, usable and compelling products supported by web services in both the energy (www.onzo.co.uk) and healthcare sectors. So watch this space.
